After a thrilling victory earlier in the day against Cedaredge the Reds were not done with the fireworks. The Reds now faced the #2 ranked team in the state, the La Junta Tigers. Both teams were evenly matched through the first four innings with La Junta holding on to a 4-2 lead. That is when the fireworks started for the Reds. They scored 3 runs in the fifth inning to take a 5-4 lead that they would not relinquish. Just for insurance the Reds added three more runs in the top of the seventh inning and then shut the Tigers out in the bottom of the inning to secure the 8-4 win. The win advanced the Reds to their first semifinal appearance since 1999. Now the Reds got to face their league nemesis, Sterling, for a chance to play in the State Championship game.
